Depending on the type of truck and number of trainees to be trained (maximum 3 trainees per instructor) Course durations will vary depending on the experience of the individuals. All types of lifting equipment including plant have recommendations as to time required.
e.g. Reach/Counterbalance
Novice course - 5 days this is for the operator who has no experience.
Experienced operator – 3 days this is for the operator who has experience but no formal training.
Refresh/Retest - 1 day this course is for the operator who has been previously licensed.
During training the operator will be required to complete the following elements;
A theoretical test this will consist of 20 multiple choice – 5 open questions - sample questions
A pre-use check of the Lift Truck - example of pre use sheet and explanation
A Practical test - which includes laden and unladen manoeuvring, stacking/destacking within an aisle and correct parking procedures.
The test was adopted by all endorsing Health & Safety Commission recognised accrediting bodies for nation-wide implementation from April 2000.
On successful completion of the training course the operator will receive a nationally recognised forklift operators certificate and photo licence
